Triund
Triund is a small hill station in the Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Triund is a part of Dharamkot. Triund is at the foot of the Dhauladhar ranges and is at a height of 2,828 m.
Triund is at a distance of 9 kms from McLeodganj and 18 kms from Dharamshala. You can reach the hilltop in approximately 3-4 hours, depending on your walking pace. Although Triund trek difficulty level is moderate, it can get daunting if it’s your first time there.

The total McLeodganj to Triund trek distance is about 9 km. Some experienced trekkers and adventure enthusiasts even start the trek from Dharamshala, which is approximately 18 km from Triund.
The starting point of triund trek is galu , however there are many options to reach galu. Either you can hire a taxi from Mcleod Ganj till galu or you can start the trek right from Mcleod Ganj . Trek can also be started from Bhagsu Nag.
If you want to see snowfall in Triund, the best time to visit is during the months of January and February. Stargazing in the night, or just relaxing alone surrounded by the Dhauladhar range are just some of the highlights of Triund. The snowfall on the hilltop just makes these experiences a lot more enchanting.
Trek is safe. As it is among the most popular trekking spots of India, hence there is huge rush of tourists especially during summers. Locals are sophisticated people and there are no wild animals up there Triund is a must go place.
