Leh, a high-desert city in the Himalayas, is the capital of the Leh region in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir state. Originally a stop for trading caravans, Leh is now known for its Buddhist sites and nearby trekking areas. Massive 17th-century Leh Palace, modeled on the Dalai Lama’s former home (Tibet’s Potala Palace), overlooks the old town’s bazaar and mazelike lanes.

Confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers in Leh
Location
Nimmu, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir

Nimmu is a beautiful valley that marks the confluence of the Indus River and Zanskar River. The Indus River drains the dry and deserted terrains of Ladakh's landlocked valley and serves as its lifeline. Zanskar, on the other hand, is a tributary of this river and merges into it from the north-eastern direction. On its way to the meeting point, the river passes through the spectacular Zanskar Gorge, which is a dream destination for trekkers.
Nightlife info
Leh Nightlife
There is not so much happening for nightlife in Leh. Do not expect anything like a nightclub, a casino, a theater, live music, adult spots, or a disco. Most people just go to a restaurant or café and hang out with their friends drinking tea, soft drinks, or coffee.
Enjoying the Night Sky
It is pleasant to look at the sky at night. From this altitude with little light pollution, the moon and the stars look so near as if one could almost touch them. Leh is the perfect place to watch shooting stars. Bring a telescope with you to enjoy the night sky the most.
Garden Restaurants and Bars
Some of the restaurants in Leh have an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy having a delicious meal, some drinks, and looking at the beautiful night sky while dining as well.
Shops
The small shops catering to the tourist trade stay open until 9 or 10 p.m. at night. There are craft shops, scarf and shawl outlets, and internet cafes where the net may or may not be working. There are lots of international food restaurants.
Don’t stay out too late because wild dogs take to the streets after 10 p.m. There are lots of them. They might be harmless or might not. It is a good idea to carry a flashlight with you because the streets can be very dark at night with dangerous holes, open drains, and uneven pavement that can cause you to trip and fall.
Hotel Sun Ray – Illegal Booze Parties
You may or you may not be able to find a booze party because they are illegal and subject to disappearing as fast as they show up. The Hotel Sun Ray is sort of camouflaged (maybe for valid reasons!) and you have to pay off some people to get in.
Keep in mind, if the place is busted, you’ll be arrested and have to pay a bribe to get out of the troubles. So, that’s something to be considered before going to these illegal parties.
